Khakusy is a natural resort on the northeastern coast of Lake Baikal with a powerful thermal spring, which comes out of the rock in the dense taiga forest. The place is very secluded; the nearest town is 40 km away on the opposite shore of Lake Baikal. It is believed, that the water of the Khakusy springs is similar to the Caucasian mineral springs, its composition is bicarbonate-sulfate-sodium. The water is thermal, average temperature - +42+46°C.
Diseases of the musculoskeletal system, peripheral nervous system, skin diseases, and gynecological diseasesare threated there.
A small holiday center is next to Khakusy. The springs themselves are quite ennobled.
Getting to the hot springs is not easy. Firstly, you need to get to Severobaikalsk or Nizhneangarsk from Irkutsk or Ulan-Ude. Then to Khakusy. In summer – by helicopter or by boat, in winter – on the ice by hovercraft “Khivus” or by car (during the period of solid ice). There you can be alone with untouched nature, enjoy the incredible scenery of Lake Baikal, and swim in hot springs of the northern part of the lake.
Swim in the hot springs;
Go hiking in the taiga;
Take a tour to Turali Bay. It is worth goingthere to see interesting bottle larches. At the bottom of a tree, bark thickens, and the tree trunk resembles a bottle. Turali Bay is an hour of walk from Khakusy one way.
